The start of the holiday season is here, bringing yet another milestone in what has been an unprecedented year. While Thanksgiving celebrations will undoubtedly look different in 2020, the holiday should remain an opportunity to pause and reflect on life’s blessings.

At NPS, we are grateful to have families and staff who have embraced and respected our comprehensive health and safety protocols. Although COVID cases are on the rise across the state and country, Norwalk Public Schools will continue to work to the best of our ability to provide in-person and hybrid learning options for our students.

To continue doing so, we need your help to keep everyone safe.

Throughout the holiday season, we ask that you keep reinforcing the same safety measures we are using inside of school to help stop the spread of COVID. This includes keeping gatherings small, preferably only with those living in your household. Watch your distance, wear a mask and wash your hands. For more information and guidance about how to celebrate the holidays during the COVID pandemic, the State of Connecticut has guidance available by clicking here:  How Can I Prepare for Holiday Gatherings?

Importantly, please note that anyone considering travel outside the state over the holiday should check the State Travel Advisory for information about which states are on the list of mandatory 14-day quarantines. Click here for the latest version.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge our NPS teachers and staff for their tireless work over the past months. Their dedication and commitment have enabled students to learn in a safe and productive environment. We are also thankful for the support of our families, and incredibly proud of the resilience that our community has shown this year.

No matter what your tradition is, or how different Thanksgiving may be this year, we wish all our NPS families a safe and relaxing holiday and long weekend.
