Cesar Nina named interim principal of Jefferson Elementary

Norwalk Public Schools is pleased to announce that Mr. Cesar Nina has been selected as interim principal of Jefferson Elementary School.  Mr. Nina will begin his role on Monday, November 16.

A dedicated and passionate educator and leader, Mr. Nina’s career has focused on cultivating positive school environments for students, while implementing research-based behavioral methods through proactive educator training opportunities.

Mr. Nina brings to Jefferson a deep understanding of how to successfully meet the academic and social emotional needs of all students. His collaborative style and ability to build relationships will further bring together and strengthen the Jefferson community.   

Mr. Nina joins NPS from PS/MS 007 Samuel Stern in Manhattan, where as principal he oversaw more than 450 students from preschool to grade 8. During his tenure in this role, Mr. Nina created an instructional lead team consisting of teachers and coaches to foster a collaborative culture and improve teacher capacity.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Nina has held a variety of leadership roles including assistant principal of P12X Lewis and Clark School in the Bronx, where he developed community partnerships to triple the amount of work-study programs available to students. In addition, he created a professional learning group for work-study teachers with goals aligned to the school’s improvement plan.

Mr. Nina spent over a decade as a special education teacher and supervisor before becoming an administrator. He began his educational career as a paraeducator. Fluent in Spanish, he also taught English as a second language to parents, relatives and other members in three school communities in the Bronx.

Mr. Nina is certified in educational administration from the College of Saint Rose. He also earned dual masters in special and general education from Touro College, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Lehman College. Mr. Nina holds certifications in New York for students with disabilities, grades 5-9. In addition, he has a school building administration initial certification for New York.
