Norwalk Board of Education "Spotlight" showcases the accomplishments of our talented students and dedicated staff members. Over the past several years, many students, staff and families have been recognized and Spotlight has been proven to be a highlight on the Board agenda.

Spotlight is on the agenda at the beginning of Board of Education business meetings, which are generally scheduled for the third Tuesday or each month at 7pm. A brief summary of the recognition or achievement is read to the audience and media in attendance. Each student or staff member is then invited up to receive a certificate of recognition, as well as congratulations from each Board member and the Superintendent. Students and families are free to leave immediately following Spotlight, or are welcome to stay for the remainder of the meeting.

Board of Education meetings are also now aired live online, as well as videotaped for Cablevision Channel 78 or on our YouTube channel, so students and families can see this honor.

Some guidelines to consider for your recommendations:

Recognition applies to all grade levels - elementary, middle and high school.

Accomplishments can include academic achievements, but also sports, music, art, clubs or community service.

Preference will be given to achievements connected to school-related activities, although achievements with outside organizations or activities will also be considered.

We welcome nominations for Spotlight at anytime. Recommendations can be emailed to Board member Heidi Keyes: and to Brenda Wilcox Williams at NPS Communications
